Professor Li Shusen

 

Li Shusen, born in Ba County, Hebei Province, graduated from Beiping Normal University in 1934. Mr. Li joined the Eighth Route Army in September 1937, and became a member of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 1938. From 1937 to 1945, Mr. Li served as Director of the Political Department of Jinsui 8th Military Division. From 1945 to 1949, Mr. Li worked at several posts, such as Director of the Propaganda Department at the Northeast People’s Army, Propaganda Minister of the Political Department at Ximan Military Division, President of Ximan Daily Newspaper, Director of Propaganda Department at Nenjiang Province, Director of Propaganda Department at Nenjiang Military Division, President of the Democracy College, the Major Staff for CPC at the Peiping Army Logistics Department, Director of Harbin Education Bureau, and Director of Education Department of Songjiang Province, etc. After liberation, he was the Party Secretary of CPC at Tianjin University from 1956 to 1957, the Acting Party Secretary of CPC at Tianjin University from 1963 to 1965, and President of Tianjin University from 1978 to 1982. He also served as the Vice-Director of 6th and 7th CPPCC Tianjin.
