2. Dormitory Culture and Education
Weijin Road Campus:
The Students’ dormitory committee (SDC) is an important bridge connecting students and the university. Dormitories are also regarded as a pivotal battlefield for ideological and political education. By providing services for students and on the basis of self-management, SDC endeavours to form a safe, civilized, well-organized and cozy living environment, be as inclusive as possible as well as enrich extracurricular activities. As a result, a positive and healthy atmosphere hopefully allows students to feel at home.
Peiyang Park Campus:
Peiyang Park Campus constructs academic residences which focus on student’s education and breaks the boundaries of isolation between schools. The academic housing system has been built with apartments as the edge and set up a relatively independent organizational framework and staff distribution system. Therefore, public spaces can be effectively used and a multifunctional platform has been built for discussions, development of hobbies, representation and housing services. With self-education as the core of the teaching experience, professors, councillors and outstanding student leaders have been introduced to the campus. This promotes the formation and development of a professional cultural atmosphere, on the one hand, and it increases the interaction and connection between students from different subjects, professors and students, and between different grades. The concept of creating a “family” for our residential community also combines personal services, learning discussions and entertainment.
Featured activities
A series of activities designed to create a "homey" atmosphere on campus: this series of activities aims to narrow the distance between service staff and students, and create a harmonious and intimate cultural community atmosphere amongst us all.
Activities include interactive activities between the teachers and the students such as “Homemade dumplings” and “When the Dragon Boat Festival meets our graduation”, as well as the “Today I am the host” on duty activity. Moreover, there are also intimate dormitory service activities, such as centralized maintenance, cleaning the water dispensers and others. What’s more, lively, educational themed dormitory activities are also held, for instance, bookcrossing, waste recycling, the Xinjiang children's charity fund, an exhibition focused on featured dormitories and more.
