On July 28, Tianjin University unveiled the plague of its 100th "dream classroom" at Dazhai school for nine-year compulsory education in Tanchang County, Gansu Province.
Supported by Tianjin University, the "Dream Classroom" project seeks to facilitate the educational development in impoverished and remote areas. Since 2017, through crowd funding, charity sale, cooperation between enterprises and the university, and with the help of Tianjin University and its alumni, 100 classrooms around China have been built by Tianjin University for primary and secondary schools in areas where educational resources are scarce. “Dream Classrooms” include art classrooms, science classrooms, multi-media classrooms, gymnasia and extracurricular activity rooms. Guan Hong, the head of Youth League at Tianjin University, said: "We will bring what the children look forward to and design what they love. Every dream classroom is a surprise, providing the local children with huge possibilities."
Located at Dazhai nine-year education school, Tanchang County, Gansu Province, the brand new 100th "Dream Classroom" will function as an intelligent reading room, which is equipped with advanced projectors and computers, cool robots for teaching aids, rows of tablets and e-readers and 3800 books on science and art. Based on the "Internet plus education" mode, this technologically advanced classroom is designed as a center for remote teaching by Tianjin University. Through the screens, the students in Tanchang will have the chance to experience college life, feel humanistic care from thousands of miles away, learn from outstanding teachers and about dominant disciplines at Tianjin University.
Previously, 20 dream classrooms, including biology labs, ocean-themed classrooms and reading rooms were built in Tanchang by Tianjin University. "The year 2020 will be a decisive year for poverty alleviation and the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects. It also witnesses the 125th anniversary of the founding of Tianjin University." Li Jiajun, Secretary of the Party Committee of Tianjin University, said, "The construction of the 100th dream classroom confirmed that with the mission of building a prosperous China through education, Tianjin University people turn dreams into reality through actual deeds."
