Distinguished scientists worldwide, spanning various related disciplines, will gather to share their insights on advancing soil science research and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration. The 4th ISMC Conference will be held in Tianjin from May 7 to 10, 2024, at the Pan-Pacific Hotel Tianjin, Tianjin, China. Tianjin University and The International Soil Modeling Consortium (ISMC) will host the 4th ISMC Conference, which is a science symposium that aims to integrate and advance soil system modeling, Earth system science, and beyond.
Soil is one of the most critical life-supporting resources, providing the foundation for food and fibre production, ecosystems, biodiversity, water, nutrients, energy, among others. Nevertheless, soil resources are pressured by increasing food demand and climate change, which call for sustainable management practices and innovative researches. Soil are essential resources to be protected and managed to meet UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). ISMC aims to enhance the role of soil modeling as a vital instrument for disseminating knowledge and addressing key global issues, while also fostering the development of translational research activities.
We cordially invite you to register and participate in this grand event. Additional details about the conference can be found at https://ismc-conference.tju.edu.cn/.
The conference includes 9 sessions:
1: Modelling soil processes in land surface modelling
2: On representing memory effects, hysteresis and feedbacks in the Critical Zone
3: Toward characterising and modelling the temporal variability of effective soil properties
4: How to include root hydraulic architecture in soil models to simulate root water uptake
5: Saturation kinetics in soils: stochiometric limits, mineral-organic interactions, and microbial explicit models
6: Constraining soil hydrologic processes using in-situ and remote sensing observations
7: Data fusion for characterization of soil states and heterogeneity
8: Application of Machine Learning and Non-Linear Methods for Spatial Data Analysis
9: General Session of any model related research
