Lecture: Discrete mechanical models and parallel world

When: 12:30 p.m., Friday, June 2, 2017

Where: Rixin Study, Fourth Floor, Zheng Dong Library, Peiyang Park Campus

Lecturer: Professor Zhao Gaofeng from the School of Civil Engineering

About the Lecture: With the development of computer technology, discrete method is most likely to become mainstream in the studies of solid and rock mechanics. This talk gives a brief introduction of a newly developed discrete model for materials using concept of parallel world, in which 4D interactions were introduced to solve the Poisson’s limitation in the classical lattice spring model. Compared with FEM or DEM, this four dimensional model has advantages on solving dynamic nonlinear problems of materials. This talk will also cover some latest development on discrete methods from Dr. Zhao and his co-workers.

Organizers: Trade Unions, Library, Office of Science and Technology, Young Teachers Association, Student Association of Innovation and Practicums

All students and staff of Tianjin University are welcome.
