Tianjin Technology Awards Conference was held in Tianjin on February 26, 2015. Thirteen achievements including five first prizes, five second prizes and three third prizes were awarded to Tianjin University. The number of first prizes and the total awards accomplished by Tianjin University ranked the highest among all universities in Tianjin.
Tianjin University has won the first prize of Natural Sciences. The project “Research on Bionic and Bio-inspired Membrane and Membrane Process” led by Jiang Zhongyi from the School of Chemical Engineering and Technology, has seen 111 published papers in three key chemical engineering journals and journals with impact factors greater than 3.0, such as Advanced Functional Materials et. al. Among these papers, 57 were published in the Journal of Membrane Science, which is the core journal in the field of membranes. According to the SCI statistics, all published papers have been cited 2,506 times in total, and 2,097 times by others. Eight papers was cited 445 times by others, and the highest citation for an article was 123 times.
This year, Tianjin University has won two first prizes in the Technical Invention Award. The “Development and Application of High Speed Parallel Robots” program, headed by Huang Tian from the Mechanical School, has been applied in production lines of more than 10 enterprises, such as Tianjin Lishen, Yunnan Anhua and Hangzhou Wahaha, creating an added value of RMB 321 million for those companies and increased profits by RMB 2.53 million. Moreover, the project “Coordination Control Technologies of Motors in Electromechanical Coupling System and its Applications”, guided by Professor Xia Changliang from the School of Electrical Engineering & Automation, has made major breakthroughs in high-end applications such as high precision observation, high real-time and system collaborative operation, and has achieved great economic results with remarkable social benefits.
Two projects of Tianjin University won the first prizes of Scientific and Technological Progress Award. One is the program “R&D and Industrialization of Refined Crystallization Technology of High-end Pharmaceutical Products” guided by Wang Jingkang from the School of Chemical Engineering and Technology. This achievement has been successfully applied to the large-scale production of valsartan, cefazolin sodium pentahydrate, losartan, irbesartan and erythromycin. It significantly improves the product quality and production efficiency, and reduces energy consumption, thus enhances the international competitiveness of related medicines, and creates prominent economic and social benefits. From 2011 to 2013, it brought about RMB 2605 million in total sales, with additional profits of RMB 675 million, additional taxes of RMB 268 million, and foreign currency earnings of 232 million dollars. The other is the program “Failure Mechanism and Anti-collapse Performance Improvement of Large-scale Steel Grid Structures”, guided by Han Qinghua from the School of Civil Engineering, which has been extended to many large-scale steel grid structures like the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and the Beidaihe Railway Station platform canopy. It improved the safety of engineering structures and saved nearly RMB 30 million in the last three years. Meanwhile, many achievements of this program have been written into design codes of “Space Grid Structure Technical Specification” and “Space Grid Structure Technical Specification of Tianjin”.
