Recently, the Tenth Seminar of the National Graduate Education of Engineering Degrees and the Seventh Plenary Session of Cooperative Group Leaders of Graduate Education of Engineering Degrees were held in Xi’an. Bai Haili, the committee member of National Engineering Educational Institution Committee, the Executive Deputy Dean of Graduate School of Tianjin University, and Zhao Meirong, the Deputy Dean of Graduate School of Tianjin University were invited to report on the meeting. Tianjin University—Andon Health Co., Ltd. Innovation Practice Base for Graduate Students was awarded National Demonstration Base for Joint Training of Graduate Students of Engineering Degrees.
At the seminar, Bai Haili gave a report on Deepening Comprehensive Reforms to Reach to High-Quality Education and Establishing Quality Assurance System for Masters of Engineering. Based on the background of the current comprehensive reforms of graduate education and according to the situation of Double World-class (world-class university and world-class discipline), after deep consideration on the establishment and practice of the quality assurance system, Bai Haili gave the report which described the top design framework of construction of the education quality assurance system of graduate education of Tianjin University. Taking the training of masters of engineering as an example, the report systematically introduced the construction and practice of the quality assurance system from the aspects of guaranteeing student sources, training process management, awarding high quality degrees and constructing the tutor team.
Zhao Meirong delivered a report on the Comparative Analysis of Training and Development Quality between Doctors of Engineering and Ph.D. in Engineering (Academic Degree). She introduced the “DID” training system for doctorates of engineering in Tianjin University from the aspects of student enrolment, training models and quality assurance.
The National Engineering Educational Institution Committee granted the plaque to the second session of National Demonstration Base for Joint Training of Graduate Students of Engineering Degrees. Tianjin University—Andon Health Co., Ltd. Innovation Practice Base for Graduate Students, was jointly established by the School of Precision Instruments and Opto-electronics Engineering of Tianjin University and Andon Health Co., Ltd..
Led by Andon Health Co., Ltd., Tianjin University—Andon Health Co., Ltd. Innovation Practice Base for Postgraduates united several other companies and established a practical teaching alliance between the university and enterprises. By adopting the scattered practice model and taking advantage of the strength of enterprise cluster, the base provides a broader platform for students to practice. At present, the Trinitarian integration engineering practice training system among Tianjin University, and both inside and outside China has been established and a new operation mechanism of long-term, win-win cooperation between the university and enterprise has been formed, thus graduate students’ innovation ability can be promoted. This is the second time in consecutive years that Tianjin University has won the laurel. In 2014, in the first demonstration base selection, the practical teaching base which was jointly established by the School of Mechanical Engineering of Tianjin University and Weichai Power Co. Ltd for graduates of Power Engineering won the honor for the first time.
Since the comprehensive reform in graduate education, remarkable achievements in education construction for the engineering degrees of Tianjin University have been obtained. Two practice bases have received the honor of National Demonstration Joint Training Base for Graduate Students of Engineering Degrees among the different selections conducted by the National Engineering Educational Institution Committee. Four teaching materials have been chosen as the National Planning Materials for Graduate Education of Engineering Degrees. Three courses have been selected as Key Construction Projects of Online Courses for Graduate Education of Engineering Degrees. Twenty-two courses were chosen as Key Self-constructed Projects of Online Courses for Graduate Education for Masters of Engineering Degrees. Three courses for master students in engineering have won the honorable title of the Outstanding Achievement Winner among the Practice of Masters of Engineering and four non-full-time engineering masters have obtained the title of the Outstanding Contributions in Engineering Master Degrees. Meanwhile, Tianjin University has been invited to deliver reports on comprehensive reforms for graduate education and graduate education for masters of engineering at the National Academic Degree and Graduate Education Conference. All these achievements showed that Tianjin University has made great achievements in comprehensively reforming graduate education and increased the influence of Tianjin University in national graduate education for masters of engineering.
