Recently, the School of Chemical Engineering and Technology at Tianjin University organized the tenth North China National College of Chemical Engineering Design Contest Finals. The event was sponsored by the China Chemical Industry Association, the China Association of Chemical Education and the Ministry of Education. 48 teams from 43 universities participated in the contest. There were about 350 people in total, including supervisors for each team.

After the opening ceremony, group and final contests were conducted. The contest invited four judges from enterprises including Liu Xinwei, senior engineer from China Tianchen Engineering Co., Ltd, Cao ShiLiang, senior engineer from Completely New Energy Engineering Technology co., Ltd, Yu Meihong, senior engineer from Shandong Haicheng Design Institute, and Zhouwei, senior engineer from Peiyang Chemical Equipment co., Ltd and 12 other judges from universities. The appraisal process included work reviews, group demonstrations and appraisal questions, assessment of the quality of design documents, engineering drawings, modern design methods and the quality of the defense. In the end, the final ranking evaluation was judged according to the total scores. After the two days of intense competition, there were 8 teams from Tianjin University, China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), China University of Petroleum (East China), Yantai University, China University of Petroleum (Beijing), University of Jinan, Qingdao University of Science and Technology and Hebei University of Technology that won the special awards.
