Editor's note: This year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC). We invited several international students to share their thoughts and opionions about China and the celebration with us.
In July 2022, I had an amazing opportunity to visit Yan’an, a significant site in the Chinese revolution located in northern Shaanxi, along the middle reaches of the Yellow River. This trip allowed me to explore the rich history of a place where the Red Army arrived in 1935 after the Long March, making it a crucial base for the Communist Party of China. Visiting important sites like the Huangdi Mausoleum, Mao Zedong’s former residence, the Yan’an Revolutionary Memorial Hall, etc., I felt a deep connection to the spirit of resilience that has shaped modern China.
One of the most memorable experiences was visiting Nanniwan, where I saw how a barren landscape was transformed into a thriving agricultural community. This journey reinforced my belief in the power of education and innovation, values that Tianjin University embodies as the first modern university in China. Our institution has played a vital role in contributing to today’s China, fostering talent and knowledge that drive the nation’s development.
As an international student in China, I am particularly grateful for the chance to study at Tianjin University and to experience firsthand the history and culture that continue to shape China’s identity. Last year’s summer, I participated in a social practice program where I visited Dagukou, the Pingjin Campaign Memorial Hall, the Awakening Society, Liang Qichao’s Former Residence, the Former Site of the CPC Northern Bureau, etc. These experiences further deepened my understanding and appreciation of China’s rich history and cultural heritage.
As the Chinese people celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, I extend my heartfelt wishes for continued prosperity and progress. In the spirit of the well-known song “没有共产党就没有新中国” (Without the Communist Party, there would be no New China), I recognize the enduring legacy of unity and dedication that has paved the way for a better future.
I hope for a China that not only thrives economically but also honors its rich history and cultural heritage.
I look forward to a future where the spirit of hard work and innovation flourishes, bringing prosperity and happiness to all its people.
