“130th Anniversary of Tianjin University” English Article Competition

In celebration of the 130th anniversary of Tianjin University (formerly Peiyang University) and to showcase its international development and global impact, we invite all current international students, prospective students, and alumni to participate in an essay competition. We seek to capture your unique experiences and emotional connections to Tianjin University, reflecting the vibrant landscape of Chinese higher education and the exchanges between Chinese and international youth.

1. Background

On October 2, 2025, Tianjin University will celebrate its 130th anniversary. As China's first modern university in higher education, TJU has a rich history of growth and has attracted outstanding students from around the world. This essay competition aims to gather international students' feelings and memories about TJU, highlighting its global perspective and cultural inclusivity.

How has your time at TJU influenced your thoughts and plans for the future? Share your dreams and how TJU has supported you in pursuing these goals.

5. Eligibility

Submissions are welcome from all current international students, prospective students, and alumni of Tianjin University.

6. Requirements

Original Work: Submissions must be original. Previously submitted works cannot be resubmitted.

Language and Length: Essays should be in English, ideally 400-600 words. The content should authentically reflect your experiences and emotions.

Images: Including relevant images is encouraged. Images should be in JPG or JPEG format, at least 1MB in size, with captions and photographer credits.

Submission Email: Send your essay to publicpress@tju.edu.cn with the subject line "International Student Essay + Title." Include your name, nationality, college/school, major, and year for current students, or graduation information for alumni.

7. Use of Submissions

Selected works will be published on the Tianjin University 130th anniversary website, the university news website, and various media platforms.

Outstanding submissions will be evaluated by experts and may be compiled for publication.

All participants agree to the terms regarding the use of their submissions.

8. Additional Information

Authors retain the right to be credited for their work. Tianjin University reserves the right to make modifications to submissions. All financial rights to the works will belong to the university for purposes such as publication and promotion.

Any disputes regarding modifications or use of the works can be negotiated with the university.
