 Arts and Culture

As the Mid-Autumn Festival draws near, Tianjin University has captivated its community by introducing an innovative line of mooncakes that blend cultural significance with artistic design. These meticulously crafted treats have quickly become a hit among students, faculty, and alumni, serving not just as a festive delicacy, but as a symbol of the university’s heritage and tradition.

This year, the university launched six distinctive mooncake gift sets, catering to diverse preferences and celebrating the festival’s spirit of unity. Among the offerings are two "Reunion Edition" gift boxes, along with four flavor variations. Each box is a testament to refined aesthetics, featuring the university’s signature "Peiyang Blue" as the base color. The intricate designs depict iconic campus landmarks, such as the East Gate, alongside the university emblem, stars, and fireworks—elegantly merging tradition with modern artistry.

The mooncakes themselves are a fusion of creativity and flavor. A unique dual-color crust enhances their visual appeal, while fillings like coconut and pineapple provide an unexpected twist on the classic treat. The university has also introduced a sugar-free version, allowing health-conscious individuals to indulge without compromising on taste.

Adding to the celebration, Tianjin University’s Alumni Association has released a special "Golden Mooncake" set. This set is inspired by the iconic East Gate and features hand-painted crabapple blossoms accented with gold. Each box includes a personalized "Mid-Autumn Family Letter," symbolizing the enduring connection between alumni and their alma mater.

The festive spirit extends beyond just gift boxes. Individually packaged mooncakes are available at the campus cafeteria, while the elaborate gift sets can be purchased both online and offline. The university's efforts to promote the Mid-Autumn Festival have created a warm, community-focused atmosphere throughout the campus.

Liu Yanhong, a senior from the School of Civil Engineering, was seen purchasing one of the gift sets at the cafeteria. "Although I can't celebrate the holiday with my family, this mooncake box symbolizes my love, blessings, and my journey at Tianjin University," she shared, planning to send the gift home to her parents.

With these creative mooncakes, Tianjin University has skillfully combined tradition, innovation, and a strong sense of community, adding a special touch to this year's Mid-Autumn Festival for students, faculty, and alumni alike.
