From July 5 to 17, 2024, Tianjin University and Sinocare International Group hosted a memorable summer camp for youth from New York, offering them a unique opportunity to explore Chinese culture. The camp was attended by 30 American teenagers and featured a wide range of educational and cultural activities.
Throughout the camp, Tianjin University’s School of International Education and Sinocare International organized lessons on the Chinese language, traditional Chinese culture, cuisine, and martial arts. These activities provided the participants with a deeper understanding of China’s rich cultural heritage.
The campers visited iconic historical sites such as Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, and the Great Wall, marveling at the grandeur and historical significance of these landmarks. They also toured the Tianjin Museum, Tianjin Art Museum, and Huo Yuanjia Martial Arts Park, gaining insights into the city’s history, culture, and artistic evolution.
A highlight of the camp was the visit to Tianjin Experimental High School, where the American and Chinese students engaged in various sports and cultural activities, fostering mutual understanding and friendship. The participants also spent time at Tianjin University’s social practice base, learning about the development of new rural areas in China and gaining knowledge about agriculture.
At the closing ceremony, Tianjin University awarded each camper a certificate of completion, and the American youth presented a performance showcasing their experiences and learning. Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng emphasized the importance of such exchanges, inviting more American youth to visit China and witness its vibrant culture and hospitality firsthand.
Over the 14-day camp, the participants not only experienced China’s historical and natural beauty but also formed new friendships and gained valuable knowledge. Although brief, this enriching experience in Tianjin and Beijing left a lasting impression on the young visitors, marking a significant step in cultural exchange and mutual understanding between China and the United States.
