From April 25 to May 3, a Tianjin University (TJU) delegation embarked on a significant journey spanning Australia, Thailand, and South Korea. Led by Yang Xianjin, Party Secretary of TJU, the main goal of the delegation was to strength current international alliances and explore new avenues for collaborative initiatives.
In Australia, the delegation engaged in a series of impactful meetings and discussions. On April 25th at the University of Adelaide, Yang Xianjin presented TJU's latest achievements and participated in discussions on faculty development and international cooperation.The event was attended by Prof. Qiao Shizhang, a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science, an Australian Research Council Laureate Fellow, and Chief Professor of Nanotechnology at the School of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at University of Adelaide.
During their stay in Adelaide, the delegation met with representatives from the Consulate General, expressing gratitude for their support and discussing future collaboration prospects. Furthermore, an Alumni Reception provided an opportunity to reconnect with former students and keep them informed about TJU's advancements.
Subsequently, the delegation then made their way to Melbourne to interact with prominent institutions, including Monash University and RMIT University. Discussions at Monash University centered on collaborative opportunities in the fields of engineering and medicine, emphasizing the mutual benefits of partnership. Similarly, meetings at RMIT University highlighted the commitment to joint research and student training.
Tours to the Consulate General of the PRC in Melbourne further reinforced the ties between TJU and Australian institutions, leveraging the sister city relationship between Melbourne and Tianjin. The Alumni Reception in Melbourne served as a platform for alumni to rekindle connection and nurturing a communal spirit.
In Thailand, the delegation visited Mahidol University, confirming their dedication to cooperative efforts and investigating opportunities for additional involvement. Discussions with academic authorities highlighted the mutual interest in fostering Sino-Thai cultural exchanges and deepening academic cooperation.
The delegation's engagement extended to alumni in Bangkok, where they received warm reception and discussed ways to strengthen connections with their alma mater. The Thai alumni association's dedication to supporting TJU's development reflects the enduring bond between the university and its graduates.
In South Korea, the delegation met with representatives from prestigious institutions such as Seoul National University and Korea University. Discussions centered on interdisciplinary collaboration and research initiatives, highlighting the potential for impactful partnerships in various fields.
A visit to the Chinese Embassy in South Korea further underscored the importance of international cooperation in higher education. Ambassador Xing Haiming commended TJU's focus on collaboration with South Korean universities, reaffirming the embassy's commitment to facilitating meaningful partnerships.
Throughout their journey, the TJU delegation emphasized the university's dedication to fostering global partnerships and promoting cross-cultural exchanges. By engaging with academic institutions, alumni, and diplomatic missions, they laid the groundwork for future collaborations that will contribute to the advancement of education and research on a global scale.
