Guess what's making waves at Tianjin University? It's none other than the newest campus celeb – a giant white goose model wafting at the Aiwan Lake on the Weijin Road campus! This 'mega' bird has caught the attention of many students, who couldn't resist snapping selfies and group pics withthe unexpected plumpy friend.
This giant goose is not just any ordinary goose, butthe brainchild of four talented undergrads from the School of Architecture who brought it to life as their final project for the 'Art Installation and Environmental Facilities' class. Inspired by the adorable ducks and geese that roam our campus lakes and steal everyone's hearts, they decided to create something special to add a splash of color to campus life.
Their creation, aptly named“Lucky Goose of Tianjin University”, stands a whopping 5 meters tall and aims to spread some joy and nature vibes tothe busy student community. These creative minds spent about 8 weeks brainstorming, researching, and crafting their masterpiece, pouring their hearts and souls into every detail.
But wait, there's more! This project is just one of many innovative initiatives happening on campus. Under the guidance of Prof. Hao Weiguo and Assoc. Prof. Wu Jingzi, the "Art Installation and Environmental Facilities" class has been exploring ways to blend art and functionality to enhanceurban surroundings since 2018. From tree planting, animal sheltering, and signage system and public art designs, students are leaving their marks on campus in the most delightful ways.
And it doesn't stop there – they've also been sprucing up the campus with micro-improvements, from revamped pathways to cozy corners perfect for studying or idling with friends. It's all about creating vibrant, uplifting spaces that nourish the soul and spark creativity.
As the semester draws to a close, Prof. Hao Weiguo has even invited experts from Tianjin University's Logistics and Infrastructure Department to evaluate the projects, ensuring that students' creations not only look good but also serve a meaningful purpose in the campus ecosystem.
So, next time you stroll by Aiwan Lake and spot the“Lucky Goose”, be sure to soak in the joy and beauty it brings to the campus. After all, it's moments like these that make Tianjin University such a special place to be!
