The Dragon Boat Team of Tianjin University participated in the 7th National College Dragon Boat Championship and won third place in the men's 200m straight race.

The National College Dragon Boat Championship is a famous Chinese dragon boat race hosted by the China University Sports Association. The competition is held in Lishui County, Baoding City, Hebei Province. More than 300 athletes from 17 universities including Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Tianjin University and Zhongshan University have signed up. The TJU Dragon Boat Team competed against other teams in the men's group dragon boat 200m straight race, 500m straight race and 2000m roundabout race.

In preparation for the competition, the dragon boat crew began their training after the end of the National Day holiday in October. Despite the cold weather and other difficulties, the team made considerable progress under the guidance of coach Yu Nan.

In the men’s 200m straight race, they beat the Huaihai Institute of Technology Dragon Boat Team by 0.22 seconds and successfully entered the final., The team won third place in the final.

In the qualification trial of the men's 500m straight race, they successfully beat the Tsinghua University Dragon Boat Team and the Zhejiang University Dragon Boat Team to win second place. However, due to the loss of 0.76 seconds, the total score was not enough for them to enter the final. In the next small finals, they maintained their original level and eventually won fifth place.

In this regard, a dragon boat player said that it is the first time that they participated in the National College Dragon Boat Championship. Given that there are several strong teams in this competition, they are very happy to get such a result.
