The 11th CPC Congress of Tianjin University was held from February 22 to 24, 2023. The Congress reviewed the work of the university since the 10th CPC Congress and drew a new blueprint for high-quality development of Tianjin University.

Professor Yang Xianjin, Secretary of the Party Committee of Tianjin University, on behalf of the 10th CPC Tianjin University Committee, delivered a report entitled“Strive towards a new paradigm for the development of a world-class university with Chinese characteristics”.

The student representatives form an important part of the congress delegates. A total of 30 students from all schools and colleges were elected as delegates. After the Congress, student delegates shared their opinions.

Student delegate Sun Binbin, Grade 2022 postgraduate of the School of Foreign Languages, said: "Having witnessed the development of TJU over the past 5 years, I have strong feelings for the achievements mentioned in the report delivered by TJU’s Party Secretary Yang Xianjin. 

Over the past five years, TJU has continued to promote the comprehensive reform of talent training, and built the mentorship system, helping solve students’ problems in their studies, major and career. The University also implemented the pilot of "one-stop" comprehensive management model for student communities, allowing students to handle more affairs in one stop.

Looking forward to the future, Party Secretary Yang stressed in his report that "we need to actively play the driving force of the opening-up of education, update the concept of internationalization, integrate into the overall situation of scientific and cultural exchanges and diplomatic strategies between China and foreign countries, seize the opportunity of digital transformation of education, and cultivate outstanding talents with global competence." As a student majoring in foreign languages, I feel Tianjin University’s open and inclusive school-running principle extend the platforms for our future development. I will advance towards the international frontier and carry forward the spirit of TJU.

I believe that with joint efforts of generations of students of TJU, our university will show its cultural confidence, openness and calmness, cultivate top-notch talents, gather masters, make outstanding contributions and remarkable reputation."
