Tianjin University History Museum is a fully integrated museum. It focuses on both university history exhibitions and education, and is dedicated to its collections, exhibitions, research, public education and cultural communication. Its basic functions are collections of university cultural relics and precious historical pictures, prints and drawings, historical public education, history and art research and cultural communication.
The museum mainly focuses on folk art works. It has selected numerous works from various categories to highlight the charm and spirit of folk art. The "Jumping over the dragon gate" Folk Art Museum is the core sector of Tianjin University folk art study school, as well as the workshop of graduates. Its collections are mainly from the collections of Mr. Feng Jicai and his friends.
Chinese Folk art is divided into two parts: traditional handicrafts and local art. The former works are mostly produced in the city by professional craftsmen with valuable materials such as precious stones, ivory, gold, silver, and red sandalwood to create art works of supernatural workmanship. However, the latter works are produced in the vast countryside by rural women with simple and ordinary materials.
Dashu House houses a collection of about 100,000 books, all of them from the personnel collections of Dean Feng Jicai. These books are mainly literature, art, and folk culture books. Many are the only existing copies of books and periodicals, folk documents and letters of celebrities and are therefore very rare and precious.
Peiyang Fine Arts Gallery is a large-scale exhibition arena. In the past ten years, it has held many art and culture exhibition activities in Tianjin University, drawing visitors from around the country.
In Tianjin University Wang Xuezhong Art Institute, the masterpieces of Wang Xuezhong known as a poet, painter and calligrapher are carefully collected. He devotes himself into distilling the beauty of nature with landscape paintings, pursuing harmony and graceful pleasantry with flower-and-bird paintings.
