Professor Gong Ke

Professor Gong Ke was born in Xiantan County, Hunan Province in 1955. Gong Ke, had obtained his Bachelor Degree from Beijing Institute of Polytechnic (now the Beijing Institute of Technology) in 1982, then went on to study further in the Technical University Graz (Austria), and gained Doctor Degree of Communication and Radio Waves Propagation there in 1986. After coming back, he started his academic career in Tsinghua University in 1987, conducting the post-doctoral research at the Department of Electric Engineering. He Headed the Department of Electronic Engineering in 1997, the Chinese National Key Laboratory on Microwave & Digital Communications in 1998 and Tsinghua Aerospace Technology Research Center in 1998. He became a full professor in 1994, and then the Vice President of Tsinghua Unversity in 1999. After being elected as the Dean of the School of Information in 2004, he became the Director of Tsinghua National Laboratory for Information Science and Technology in 2005. He also served as the Vice Dean of the Graduate School and the Commissioner of Culture (1995-1997), the Chief of the Science and Technology Department of Tsinghua University (1997-1999).
Gong Ke served as the President of Tianjin University from 2006 to 2011.
