Lecture: Research on Ultrathin Nanostructures

When: 12:30 p.m., Friday, September 22

Where: Rixin Study, Fourth Floor, Zheng Dong Library, Peiyang Park Campus

Lecturer: Dr. Hu Shi

About the Lecturer: Dr. Hu Shi obtained his PhD from the Department of Chemistry, Tsinghua University in 2012 and conducted postdoctoral research in North Carolina State University and Pennsylvania State University thereafter. He was then introduced into School of Science, Tianjin University as a Professor in August 2016. His research interests span the controllable synthesis of ultrathin nanostructures, their application in electro-catalysis and gas-sensing materials with most of the results published in J. Am. Chem. Soc. and other prestigious journals. He is the principle investigator of one national science funding of China and one industry funding from Sinopec.

About the Lecture: Ultrathin nanostructures possess the very essential features of nanomaterials, including quantum-confinement e?ects and unconventional phase stability & catalytic reactivity, which are determined by the significant structure variations from the bulk materials. More and more reports on ultrathin nanostructures and various new phenomena have appeared in recent years and we aim to present a well-organized review on the most important characteristics of non-carbon ultrathin nanostructures, in an attempt to reveal the underlying relationship between their reactivity, stability, transformation law, and their atomic structures.

Organizers: Trade Unions, Library, Office of Science and Technology, Young Teachers Association, Student Association of Innovation and Practicums

All students and staff of Tianjin University are welcome.
