1st Place of the Overall Score and 9 prizes in SDC 2022

The final of the Solar Decathlon Competition China (SDC) was held from August 8 to 14, 2022 in the Zhangbei County in Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. R-Cells, a lifetime health living by Team Tianjin U+ has won the 1st place in overall score and 9 single prizes of the 3rd The Solar Decathlon China(SD China) 2022 including 8 first place prizes and 1 second place prize.

The trophies of the overall championship and for the 1st prizes of the sub-contests

The finalists from 29 famous architectural schools of 10 countries have participated in this worldly reputed competition, including Tianjin University, Tsinghua University, Southeast University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Chongqing University, Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology, ETH Zurich, RMIT University, Loughborough University, Oslo School of Architecture and Design, etc.  After two and a half years of unremitting efforts and long-lasting commitment , the 15 United teams gathered in the Zhangbei County, Zhangjiakou, to compete on the same stage and hope to hit a home run with their ingenious architectural and technological solutions brought to life. In the end, Team Tianjin U+ lived up to the high standard and won 8 first prizes and 1 second prize out of 10 single awards by presenting its outstanding performance, cutting-edgy conceptualization and detail-orientated execution and took home the title of the overall score first prize winner of the 3rd Solar Decathlon China (SDC 2022).

Solar Decathlon China SDC is a solar building technology competition based on global universities. Each team designs and builds a full-size high-performance house with solar energy as the only energy source, and participates in the ten contests, including (as in the SDC2022 competition) architectural design, engineering & construction, energy, communication, market potential, indoor environment, renewable heating/cooling, home life, and energy self-sufficiency.

Solar Decathlon China 2022 is the third edition of the SDC competition. The competition actively serves the national green ecological development strategy and the renewable energy utilization, and it is committed to promoting high-quality urban & rural development and industrial transformation. Since 2011, SDC has been supported by the National Energy Administration, Ministry of Housing and urban-Rural Development, Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, National Development and Reform Commission, and other national ministries and departments.

Team Tianjin U+ is led by the School of Architecture ,Tianjin University, in collaboration with various institutions and disciplines such as the schools of environmental engineering, civil engineering, automatic engineering, mechanical engineering, College of Intelligence and Computation, APEC Sustainable Energy Center, and the trans-disciplinary School of Future Engineering. It carries out school-enterprise cooperation with the Tianjin University Research Institute of Architecture Design & Urban Planning Co., Ltd., cooperates with Tianjin Chengjian University and Oslo School of architecture and design, and integrates the technical supports from a number of industrial partners to form a joint industry-university research team. There were more than 30 team advisors and instructors, and more than 70 doctoral, graduate and undergraduate students.
