On April 25, Qiushi Hall on Peiyang New Campus witnessed the opening of the Third Conference on Talent-related Work of Tianjin University. University leaders, Academicians, disciplinary committee members, cadres, and faculty and student representatives attended the event.

Chaired by Wang Shuxin, Executive Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Tianjin University (TJU), the Conference was themed on in-depth implementation of the strategy of developing the University with talents and accelerating the construction of a world-class university.

Yang Xianjin, Secretary of the Party Committee of TJU, stressed in his speech that it is imperative to better integrate the development of the primary productive force of science and technology, primary resource of talent, and primary driving force of innovation, so as to accelerate the development of talent and innovation highland. Tianjin University will further promote the development of faculty team through "vigorous training, active introduction, continuous support, effective incentives, and follow-up services".

TJU President Jin Donghan said in his keynote report that "National development and rejuvenation depends on talents. Tianjin University has always attached great importance to talent-related work." He systematically reviewed the phased achievements since the University’s Second Conference on Talent-related Work, deeply analyzed the strategy and urgency of talent-related work in the new era, and emphasized the goals, tasks and measures for implementing the strategy of development of the university through talents in the new era, making "Tianjin University Plan".

At the conference, Sun Yuehai, Party Secretary of the School of Mechanical Engineering, Ma Xinbin, Dean of the School of Chemical Engineering and Technology, Hu Wenbin, Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Ma Shoufeng, Party Secretary of the College of Management and Economics, and Liu Changlong, Party Secretary of the School of Science, gave speeches respectively from the perspective of the experience and practice, opportunities and challenges, construction goals, ideas and suggestions of talent team building.

Academician Liu Congqiang, Dean of the School of Earth System Science, Professor Han Qinghua, Party Secretary and Dean of the School of Civil Engineering, and Professor Liu Xiuyun from the School of Precision Instrument and Optoelectronics Engineering, delivered speeches respectively from the aspects of personal growth and development, insights of their experience and talent-related work.

Mr. Wang Shuxin introduced the document of "Measures for Tianjin University to Implement the Strategy of Talent-related Work in the New Era (Draft)", including the drafting background, process and overall consideration to the attendees.

According to the overall arrangement of the Conference, it will take two and a half months for the follow-up panel discussions.
