On November 22, Tianjin University (TJU) held the 2024 Peiyang Sports Excellence Awards Ceremony at the University Activity Center. The event recognized outstanding student athletes and individuals who have contributed to the university's sports culture. Attendees included Yang Huan, Director of the Publicity Department, deputy secretaries from various colleges, and officials from the Sports Department, along with nearly 200 students, coaches, and club instructors.
The ceremony began with an energetic “Shuffle Dance Medley” by the Peiyang Shuffle Dance Club, setting a lively tone for the evening. Fifteen finalists shared their inspiring stories, highlighting their resilience and dedication to sports. Their narratives, filled with personal triumphs and determination, motivated the audience to pursue excellence.
The program also featured impressive performances by the TJU Taekwondo Team, Wu Xiaoyue from the Cheerleading Team, and a street dance duet by Jiang Hengjin and Li Jiayu. The performances energized the crowd, culminating in the award presentation.
The "Peiyang Sports Excellence Award" was awarded to ten students: Ma Chaoyang, Peng Rongxiang, Cang Xingchen, Wang Wenjie, Mao Tianqin, Han Huizhen, Wang Boya, Chen Yixin, Hu Jinyu, and Li Mingchen. Five students—Sun Zeyu, Sun Yuxuan, Wu Xiaoyue, Liu Rui, and Yang Yunxiang—received the “Peiyang Sports Excellence Nomination Award.” Mao Tianqin earned the “Popular Choice Award.” Certificates were presented by Yang Huan, who also took commemorative photos with the awardees.
In his speech, Yang praised the winners and emphasized the role of sports in developing physical strength, teamwork, and resilience. He encouraged the university to continue fostering an environment that integrates physical education with academic development. Yang also called for greater collaboration to elevate sports at TJU and urged students to embrace sports as a way to build character and find joy.
The Peiyang Sports Excellence Awards highlight TJU’s commitment to promoting athleticism and campus sports culture. This year’s ceremony not only celebrated individual achievements but also reinforced the university’s dedication to nurturing well-rounded students prepared to excel in both academics and athletics.
