TJU's Research Impact Grows: 25 Scholars Make Global Highly Cited List

Clarivate Analytics has released its annual list of "Highly Cited Researchers 2024" on November 19, 2024, identifying 6,636 researchers from over 1,200 institutions across 59 countries and regions who have demonstrated significant influence in their fields. The Mainland of China saw a substantial increase in nominations, with 1,405 researchers making the list, accounting for 20.4% of the total.

Ranking of Chinese Universities by Number of Clarivate Highly Cited Researchers

Tianjin University achieved a notable milestone with 25 researchers named to the prestigious list, marking an increase of one researcher from the previous year and positioning the university at 8th place among higher education institutions in the mainland of China. The university's researchers were recognized across three ESI subject areas and cross-disciplinary fields.

The breakdown of TJU's highly cited researchers includes:

  • 17 researchers in cross-disciplinary fields

  • 4 researchers in chemistry

  • 3 researchers in materials science

  • 1 researcher in earth sciences

The selection process for the 2024 list analyzed research papers published between 2013 and 2023, with 3,560 researchers recognized across 20 ESI fields (excluding mathematics) and 3,326 in cross-disciplinary categories. The evaluation involved both quantitative analysis of citation data and qualitative expert review to identify researchers with exceptional influence in their respective fields.
