Tianjin University Celebrates 2024 Red Leaves Season with Music, Art, and Tradition

 Arts and Culture

Tianjin University marked its annual "Red Leaves Season" on October 19, bringing a blend of natural beauty and cultural activities to the campus. Held at the Feng Jicai Institute of Literature and Art, the Sing for Autumn - 2024 6th Annual Red Leaves Season invited students and faculty to explore the season’s charm through a variety of artistic expressions.

With red leaves shimmering after a light rain, the campus transformed into a picturesque scene of flowing water, swans, and koi fish, offering a colorful backdrop for students to take photos and capture the beauty of autumn at its peak.

At the "Wishing Corner" near Chengxin Pond, students took part in a unique time capsule activity. They wrote letters to their future selves, placing their hopes and aspirations into envelopes marked for delivery in 2025, 2026, or 2027. Letters from previous Red Leaf Festivals, some dating back to 2021, were also retrieved during the event, making this tradition a meaningful way for students to reflect on their personal growth and future goals.

Across the pond, students engaged in creative workshops, including leaf imprint art and stamping commemorative seals, preserving their memories of the season. The "Red Leaf Reading Corner" featured albums from previous festivals, where students could reflect on past events, while a poetry and photography exhibition showcased artistic works inspired by the autumn landscape, drawing admiration from attendees.

A spontaneous poetry and music salon emerged near the statue of poet Xu Zhimo, where student clubs, including the Peiyang Guitar Association and Peiyang Poetry Society, performed poems, music, and dance to celebrate campus life. International students from Indonesia brought performances of traditional songs and dances.

Meanwhile, students from Georgia showcased their skills in Chinese kung fu. The university choir's harmonies, paired with the rustling red leaves, created a truly immersive experience.

This year's festival witnessed increased student involvement in all aspects, from planning to execution, reflecting Tianjin University's commitment to integrating the appreciation of nature, art, and culture into its campus life. Through the Red Leaf Festival, a deeper sense of connection to the environment and community continues to flourish among students and faculty alike.
