Jin Donghan Visits Yangtze Delta Region Institute of Tsinghua University for Strategic Talks

On the morning of September 28, Jin Donghan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and president of Tianjin University, led a delegation to the Yangtze Delta Region Institute of Tsinghua University in Zhejiang for a research visit. Jin held a strategic meeting with Yang Xiangdong, Party Committee member and vice president of the institute. Wang Tianyou, Party Committee member and vice president of Tianjin University, also participated.

During the discussions, Jin Donghan praised the institute’s notable achievements. Located in Jiaxing, Zhejiang, and serving the Yangtze River Delta region, the institute has established a successful model of provincial-university collaboration. It has made significant progress in scientific research and the industrialization of high-tech advancements. Jin emphasized that these developments offer valuable insights for Tianjin University, expressing his hope for both institutions to strengthen their partnership through joint projects. He underscored the importance of deepening collaboration between Tianjin University and Tsinghua University to further support the region's high-quality economic and social development.

Yang Xiangdong acknowledged Tianjin University’s long-standing history and strong educational resources. He highlighted the university's successful establishment of five off-campus research institutes in Zhejiang Province, which address the technological needs of local enterprises and facilitate the application of Tianjin University’s scientific research. Yang expressed optimism about expanding cooperation, focusing on key industries such as petrochemicals, and producing landmark results that benefit both institutions.

Prior to the meeting, President Jin toured the institute’s achievement exhibition hall. Representatives from other institutes also attended the visit.
