Tianjin University Welcomes Over 8,200 New Graduate Students with Unique Journeys

 Campus

On September 5, Tianjin University welcomed more than 8,200 new master's and doctoral students to its campus. In contrast to the excitement and sense of novelty often seen in undergraduates, these graduate students exhibited a sense of calm and confidence. Many have already experienced the challenges of professional life or family responsibilities, returning to campus with clear goals in mind.

Their poise reflects a strong commitment to academic pursuits and a determination to make meaningful contributions in their fields.

"Three Generations," Same Joy

At the registration area of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, 2024 PhD candidate Fu Chunyu arrived with his entire family, including his parents, wife, and two daughters, the youngest of whom is only 42 days old. After completing his registration, volunteers captured a family portrait to mark the occasion. Born in 1987, Fu Chunyu, now 37, works at the Beijing Satellite Environment Engineering Institute. He decided to pursue a doctoral degree at Tianjin University to further his personal and professional growth.

Carrying the Blessings of 285 Students

At the School of Chemical Engineering and Technology registration point, newcomer Pei Xuan attracted considerable attention. As a member of the university's 25th Graduate Teaching Support Team, Pei recently completed a year-long teaching assignment, returning to campus with the blessings of 285 children from Dangchang, Gansu Province. In addition to his dedication to education, Pei Xuan donated hematopoietic stem cells on July 8, bringing hope to a patient in need. He became the 20th student from Tianjin University and the 407th individual in Tianjin City to make such a donation.

Twin Brothers Reunite at Tianjin University

The faculty members and students from School of Mechanical Engineering saw the reunion of twin brothers Jiang Nan(South)and Jiang Bei (North), both incoming graduate students. Hailing from Baoding, Hebei Province, the "South-North" brothers are set to pursue studies in precision machine tools and medical robotics, respectively. After attending different universities for their undergraduate studies—Yanshan University and Hebei University of Technology -they have now reunited at Tianjin University to embark on this new chapter together.

Tianjin University's new cohort of graduate students brings a diverse array of backgrounds and stories, reflecting a vibrant mix of experiences, aspirations, and dreams.
