Tianjin University Confers Honorary Professorship to Yann Klinger

On 4 September, Tianjin University held the Conferring Ceremony of Honorary Professorship for Professor Yann Klinger from the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris for his outstanding achievements and significant contributions in the field of earth sciences.

Professor LIU Congqiang, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Dean of the School of Earth System Science, Dr. LIU Xiuguo, Assistant President of Tianjin University, and Prof. Chen Jiubin, Associate Dean of the School of Earth System Science attended the conferring ceremony. Professor Yann Klinger delivered a speech to thank the university for awarding him the honorary professorship. He would cherish this honor, and promote more international cooperation and enhance the university's influence in the field of environmental science and geoscience.

After the ceremony, Professor Yann Klinger gave an academic lecture entitled “Earthquake deformation: From ground rupture to fault structure”.

Yann Klinger, a professor of the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris (IPGP), is internationally recognised for his expertise and innovative research in Tectonics and Earthquake Geology. Prof. Klinger has severd as the Director of the Tectonics and Mechanics of the Lithosphere at IPGP and a member of several expert advisory committees in France. Prof. Klinger works across multiple spatial scales, from small scale deformation in laboratory sandbox experiments, to meter scales in the field, to kilometers scale of fault zones.
