Tianjin University and Guiyang University Strengthen Partnership

On August 20, 2024, Jin Donghan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and President of Tianjin University, led a delegation to Guiyang University to promote their ongoing partnership. The visit included a meeting with Guiyang University officials, including Party Secretary Lv Baoping and university leaders Zhao Fuguo, Ma Li, Li Can, Wang Shuqian, Zhang Jiawan, Liu Qinghai, and Guo Li. Xiao Songshan, Assistant to the President of Tianjin University and Head of Shenzhen College's Chinese counterpart, also attended the event.

During the meeting, Jin Donghan emphasized the significant progress achieved since the partnership began, particularly in areas such as faculty exchanges, talent cultivation, and research collaboration. He urged both universities to further enhance their political alignment and focus on key tasks. Jin highlighted the importance of detailed action plans and deepening collaboration in faculty training, academic exchanges, and scientific research. He also called for concerted efforts to align with Guizhou Province's industrial innovation needs, leveraging the strengths of both institutions to launch and implement major projects that support local industry development. Jin stressed the need for clear accountability, collaborative planning, and a commitment to delivering tangible results in the support partnership.

Lv Baoping warmly welcomed the Tianjin University delegation and expressed gratitude for the continuous support and assistance provided by Tianjin University in advancing Guiyang University’s development. Lv detailed the achievements of the partnership, noting the establishment of a regular cooperation mechanism that has led to significant progress in key areas such as provincial laboratory restructuring, major research project applications, and academic program development. He reaffirmed Guiyang University’s commitment to actively promoting the implementation of all support tasks and expressed hope for further collaboration in faculty development, high-level talent training, research innovation, and academic program enhancement. Lv envisioned the partnership becoming a model of higher education support cooperation.

During their visit, Jin Donghan and his delegation toured key facilities at Guiyang University.The visit was attended by senior representatives from both universities, including members of Tianjin University’s Party Office, International Cooperation Office, School of Automation, and School of Intelligence and Computing, alongside their counterparts from Guiyang University’s various departments.
