Students Clinch First Prizes in This National Contest

On May 26, two teams from College of Management and Economics (CoME) of Tianjin University (TJU) both achieved first prizes at "Changchun International Automobile City & FAW Logistics Cup" the 8th National Contest on Logistics Design by University Students, which was concluded in Changchun, Jilin Province.

In this contest, over 40,000 logistics students from across the country participated in the university-level and provincial-level contests. A total of 1,206 teams registered for the contest, with 699 teams advancing to the preliminary round, 353 teams to the semi-finals, and 90 teams to the finals.

The two teams that won first prize nationwide are: the "Peiyang Escort Team" composed of Wu Jun-hui, Ma Si-yu, Chen Jiong-wen, Zhang Jian-qiang from the 2021 Logistics Engineering major, and Wang Hui from the 2020 Logistics Engineering major (advised by Professor Liu Wei-hua and Teacher Bai Xuan-ming); the "Qi-li-tai Logistics Design Team" composed of Sun Han, Luo Si-ting from the 2021 Logistics Engineering major, Wang Kang, Rao Jia-ji from the Information Management and Information Systems major, and Ouyang Sheng-yi from the E-commerce major (advised by Professor Mao Zhao-fang and Professor He Long-fei).

Through this contest, students gained a lot of insights and experiences. "This contest has deepened my understanding of logistics design. Logistics involves not only simple transportation and storage of goods but also various aspects of the supply chain, requiring comprehensive consideration of factors such as cost, efficiency, and customer demands. During the contest, our team continuously learned, discussed, and practiced, gradually forming a systematic thinking about logistics design, which will have a profound impact on my future studies and work," said Wu Jun-hui from the Peiyang Escort Team. "Teamwork is an indispensable part of this contest. Team members support and encourage each other, facing challenges and difficulties together. During the contest, we fully utilized our respective strengths and also learned how to communicate and collaborate better. This spirit of teamwork will be a valuable asset in my future career", he added.

Sun Han, the captain of the Qilitai Logistics Design Team, said, "Participating in this contest was a fulfilling and inspiring experience. By designing and implementing a digitalization-driven transformation plan for FAW Logistics, we demonstrated the powerful role of digital platforms and algorithms in improving operational efficiency and optimizing service quality. This contest not only promoted our team's deep thinking about innovation and technological application but also made us realize the importance of technological innovation in the context of national industrial upgrading. Our team's solution closely integrates with national needs, providing a new innovative development path for FAW Logistics and offering inspiration for the technological transformation of the entire logistics industry. Being able to participate in such a far-reaching contest is a valuable and unforgettable experience for each of us."

The "Changchun International Automobile City & FAW Logistics Cup" the 8th National Contest on Logistics Design by University Students is guided by the Teaching Steering Committee for Logistics Management and Engineering of Higher Education Institutions under the Ministry of Education, organized by the China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing, and sponsored by the Management Committee of Changchun Automobile Economic and Technological Development Zone and FAW Logistics Co., Ltd. The National Contest on Logistics Design by University Students was launched in 2006 and was listed as a "Quality Engineering" construction project by the Ministry of Education in 2007. It has become a platform for improving the practical abilities of logistics students, showcasing talents, and cultivating and discovering talents, attracting tens of thousands of college students to participate in each session.
