 Global

On December 27th, Shekhar Dongol, a Nepalese student at Tianjin University, donated blood at a mobile blood collection site in the Huanghedao Street in Tianjin and received a voluntary blood donation card. This is the second time he has donated blood in China within a year, and the 18th time in his life. "I hope to help Chinese people in this way."

"Soon after he enrolled in March this year, Dongol contacted the school and inquired about blood donation information. Within a month, he completed his first donation," said Zhao Zhipeng, a teacher at Tianjin University’s School of International Education. “He once told us that regular blood donation is not only beneficial to the society, but also helps the donor develop scientific and reasonable dietary and lifestyle habits. It is an healthy practise worth keeping."

"In Nepal, we have a saying that blood donation saves lives." Shekhar Dongol said. He is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in architecture at Tianjin University’s School of Architecture. “My study focuses on cultural heritage protection, especially on the research and protection of the ancient Silk Road trade corridor in Nepal.”

Shekhar Dongol told the reporter that he started blood donation organized by the Nepal Red Cross when he was 19 years old and has since kept the habit.

"Love knows no borders, and I will continue blood donation in future while I’m staying in China," Shekhar Dongol declared. He also hoped to play a bigger role in bridging the relationship between China and Nepal.
