TJU Joins China-Belarus Association of Universities, Releases “TJU Initiative”

Tianjin University joined the China-Belarus Association of Universities during the ceremony held on November 21, 2023. More than 80 universities of Belarus and China have joined the association.

From November 20 to 24, Ms. Lei Ming, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Tianjin University, led a TJU delegation to participate in the event.

The plenary session was attended by rectors of universities of both countries. Ms. Lei Ming delivered a speech on the theme of “The Application of Digital Technology in Educational Process”, sharing TJU’s exploration and practices in response to the opportunities and challenges of the digital era. At the forum, she put forward “TJU Initiative”, proposing the collaborative construction of an online teaching resource-sharing platform among alliance universities. The initiative aims to explore the mutual recognition of digital credits, expand various long and short-term two-way exchange programs, establish a research cooperation platform within the alliance, and pool the strengths and advantages of the alliance in the fields of basic science and engineering to contribute to addressing common global challenges.

On November 23, the delegation visited Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU). Professor Yuri Mazei, Vice Rector and Head of International Cooperation Department, expressed MSU’s hope to further deepen collaboration with Tianjin University in areas such as physics and optics. Additionally, he invited TJU to participate in the 270th anniversary of MSU next year. Ms. Lei Ming introduced the history of cooperation between the two universities in student cultivation and personnel exchanges, with focus on the longstanding cooperation between School of Precision Instrument and Opto-electronics Engineering at TJU and the Department of Physics at MSU in the fields of optics and biomedical sciences, spanning over two decades. Both parties had an in-depth discussion on student exchanges, faculty visits, and collaborative research.
