From June 30 to July 2, 2023, the sixth forum on the Development of Educational Disciplines in Comprehensive Universities was held in Yinchuan, Ningxia. More than 20 national renowned experts as well as more than 130 scholars and leaders of the school of education from comprehensive universities across China attended the forum, including Beijing Normal University, the University of Hong Kong, Tsinghua University, Nanjing Normal University, Zhejiang University, and Peking University.

At the opening ceremony of the forum, Yan Guangfen, Dean of the School of Education of Tianjin University, delivered a speech on behalf of initiators of the forum. Yan Guangfen reviewed the previous five sessions of the forum. She stated that commonality, co-construction and co-creation have become an agreement of education discipline in comprehensive universities. The theme of the forum highlights the construction of teaching disciplines and talent training for the construction of a strong education system, cracking the difficulties of education, innovating development ideas, and carrying out full discussion.

In the keynote presentation session, Yan Guangfen, Dean of the School of Education, Tianjin University, made a keynote speech titled "Between Emerging Engineering Education and Emerging Liberal Arts Education: Reflections and Explorations of the School of Education of Tianjin University", discussed the reform and innovation of emerging engineering education for the future development of science and technology and industry. She pointed out the main educational problems that need to be solved in the current engineering education for the development of science and technology. Taking a series of experiences in the reform of the talents of emerging liberal arts education and emerging engineering education of Tianjin University as examples, she put forward the new model and new paradigm of engineering education in the new era, the development path of the university education discipline with engineering expertise, the system and orientation of personnel training, and the practical exploration of deepening the reform of personnel training mode.
