On November 22, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) announced the new Fellow list for the year 2024. Professor Ma Kaixue, Dean of the School of Microelectronics at Tianjin University (TJU), was successfully selected for his contributions to low-loss substrate integrated suspended line technology and reconfigurable millimeter-wave front-end integrated circuits.
Pro. Ma has long been engaged in the research of silicon-based and III-V microwave and millimeter-wave integrated circuits and integrated systems. He has published over 400 SCI/EI papers, holds more than 50 authorized invention patents, and received over 10 international awards. He has undertaken multiple national-level projects, including the National Key Research and Development Program of China and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He led the approval and construction of Tianjin IC Center, with an investment of over 100 million yuan. Prof. Ma once served as the coordinator for the IEEE Microwave Theory and Technology Society (MTT-S) in China and Singapore, the Associate Editor of IEEE TMTT, and the Guest Editor of IEEE Microwave Magazine. In 2020, he became a member and speaker of the IEEE MTT-S TC4 Technical Committee. He was awarded the Second Prize of National Teaching Achievement Award and the Special Prize of Tianjin Teaching Achievement Award. In 2020, he was awarded the Special Prize of the “Haihe Talent” Entrepreneurship Competition for Overseas Talents in Tianjin, and the Second Prize of the Natural Science Award of the Chinese Institute of Electronics.
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is an international organization with over 420,000 members in more than 160 countries. IEEE Fellow, the highest ranking member of the Institute, is the highest honor bestowed by the organization. Fellows are selected for their significant contributions to the advancement or application of engineering science and technology, delivering significant value to society. Each year, approximately 300 individuals are selected as IEEE Fellows by peer experts from among the organization’s senior or life members. The number of elected Fellows does not exceed one thousandth of the total IEEE membership for that year.
