Tianjin University Receives 5M Donation to Boost International Education

The GROWTH STEEL GROUP from Indonesia and Tianjin Motian Group Co. LTD each donated a fund of 2.5 million RMB to Tianjin University in Tianjin in a bid to boost the university’s international education.

The donation ceremony was held on Weijin Road campus.

Speaking at the ceremony, Yang Xianjin, Party Secretary of Tianjin University expressed thanks to both companies, saying that the donation will help promoting educational exchanges and cooperation between China and Indonesia, as well as other ASEAN countries.

He noted that Tianjin University has always attached importance to exchanges and cooperation with the education sector of ASEAN countries. It has taken the lead in establishing the ASEAN-China Network for Cooperation and Exchanges among Engineering and Technology Universities (ACNET-EngTech) and the ASEAN-China Smart Ocean Center. “Our university has been selected for three consecutive years as a key participant in the China-Indonesia Vice Premier-level People-to-People Exchange Mechanism project, and actively engaged in establishing partnership with Indonesian universities,”said Yang Xianjin.He welcomes and encourages more Indonesian and ASEAN students to choose Tianjin University as their destination for pursuing higher education.

Su Yongfa, Chairman of the The GROWTH STEEL GROUP, introduced how the company has contributed to the development of Chinese language education in both Indonesia and China. He thought highly of Tianjin University, saying that as the first modern university in China, TJU boasts strong academic strength and an excellent learning environment. Su Yongfa hoped that the fund will help to cultivate international talents for the “Belt and Road” Initiative, and eventually facilitate the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind.

As the event coincided with the closure of the third Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) International Cooperation Forum, Su Jianmin, the Chairman of Tianjin Motian Group Co. LTD mentioned in his speech that the collaboration between the Indonesian education sector and Tianjin University is an integral part of the joint efforts between China and Indonesia under BRI.He said that as a private enterprise, the company will continue to fulfill its social responsibilities and make greater efforts to promote the development of Tianjin's economy and society, especially in the field of education.

It’s learned that the two companies signed an international talent cultivation cooperation agreement with Tianjin University in 2021 and currently nearly 70 Indonesian students are studying at the university.
