Professor Fang Fengzhou Elected as President of CIRP

Prof Fengzhou Fang, is elected as the President of the International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP) 2023-2024 in recognition of his academic achievements in manufacturing science and technology.

CIRP was founded in 1951 with the aim to address scientifically, through international co-operation, issues related to modern production science and technology. CIRP has its headquarters in Paris, and includes some 600 worldwide members.

Professor Fang Fengzhou is the founding president of the International Society for Nanomanufacturing (ISNM) and the editor-in-chief of Nanomanufacturing and Metrology (NMME) published by Springer Nature. Professor Fang’s specialist areas of interest include optical freeform design and manufacturing, medical device/implants manufacturing, micro/nano manufacturing, ultraprecision manufacturing and metrology. Amongst the applications areas are in medical devices, bio-medical implants, aspheric and freeform optical systems, aerospace and engineering components. Professor Fang has worked with numerous industrial partners assisting companies in developing their R&D activities. He is the president of the International Academy of Engineering and Technology (AET) and a recipient of SME Albert M. Sargent Progress Award. Professor Fang is a Fellow of CIRP, ISNM, AET and SME.
