TJU Shines in National Digital Art & Design Awards

Recently, the 11th National College Digital Art & Design Awards (NCDA) announced the final results. Tianjin University achieved a historic record since its participation in this competition, winning 5 first prizes, 5 second prizes and 7 third prizes.

First prize winner--Escaping from the Moon, supervised by Qin Junnan

A total of 1,826 colleges and universities participated in the competition, 289,865 works were collected, and 29 provincial competitions were set up. After five rounds of selection, including school-level competition, qualification competition, provincial preliminary competition, provincial final competition, and national competition, the first, second and third prizes of the national competition were selected according to the proportion of no more than 5%, 8% and 12% respectively.

According to Qin Junnan, a faculty member at Tianjin University’s Art Education Center, Tianjin University, as the organizing unit of the Tianjin Regional Competition for NCDA, is responsible for the divisional competition work, withArt Education Center, School of Architecture, and the College of Intelligence and Computing overseeing the respective areas. The university has been hosting the competition for three consecutive years, accumulating rich experience in event organization. The work instructed by Qin with the name of “Escaping from the Moon” was also among the university’s five first prize winners in this year’s NCDA.

“In future, we will further promote education through competitions and prepare more excellent talents for the coordinated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region and the transformation and upgrading of Chinese industries.” said Qin.

The 11th National College Digital & Art Design Awards is sponsored by the Talent Exchange Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. It is an important project on the list of the Ministry of Education's National Ranking of Discipline Competitions in General Colleges and Universities and has great significance for promoting educational and teaching reform as well as fostering innovative talents in universities.

Fostering the concept of Designing for the People and Nurturing Future Designers, the project encourages college students to actively participate in innovative designs and to meet the demands for future designer. These students are intended to enhance the talent pool that supports the development of the design industry.
