The Mid-Autumn Festival is coming. Tianjin University launched new designs of this year's mooncakes, which are popular among people to enjoy the festival.
This year, Tianjin University has presented two mooncake packages with different cultural and creative themes: “Full Moon of TJU”, and “Enjoying the Moon at TJU”. The shape and packaging design are all from the students of Tianjin University.
The theme of “Full Moon of TJU” keeps the traditional style of TJU mooncakes, whose typical elements, including the university logo, motto, and Peiyang Memorial Pavilion, among others, are printed on the packages, gift bags, and surface of mooncakes. Of this theme, there are four versions of mooncake: versions of reunion, commemoration, logo, and sugar alcohol. Mooncake fillings this year include three categories: Cantonese, cheese, and smoothie. Besides the classical flavors of five kernels, black sesame, and lotus seed paste with egg yolk, there are new styles of mooncakes, including avocado, honey peach, chestnut, and other “internet celebrity styles”.
While featured with a bookmark gift box, the theme of “Enjoying the Moon at TJU” includes two specific versions: “Fascinating Peiyang”, and “Admiring the Moon on Flower-filled Embankment”. Using dark blue as its main color, “Fascinating Peiyang” is depicted with “1895 Tianjin” with a three-dimensional sketch. Using TJU’s “Newton Apple Tree” and “Star of Tianjin University” as its designing elements, “Admiring the Moon on Flower-filled Embankment” ’s internal package uses “Peiyang Shield” of the university logo as a window to show Tianjin University’s scenery.
This year’s mooncakes can be bought both online and offline, providing convenient purchasing ways and various choices for faculty, students, and alumni.
“Regardless of loose or boxed, these mooncakes have added a touch of warmth of TJU to this Mid-Autumn Festival,” said Zhang Zijian, a first-year student of the School of Precision Instrument and Opto-electronics Engineering at Tianjin University. He just bought a box of “TJU mooncakes” from Xibingwu bakery of the canteen for his family members thousands of kilometers away from Tianjin. He added: “A small mooncake is not only a carrier of our wishes of ‘all people can live a long and happy life’, but also a cultural bond of our love for home and homeland.”
Wishing all TJU people a very Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!
