Tianjin University’s Economics and Business Discipline Enters Top 1% in ESI Rankings

According to the newly released Essential Science Indicators (ESI) data (the third update in 2023, with the data collection range from January 1, 2013 to February 28, 2023), Tianjin University’s Economics and Business discipline entered the top 1% on the ESI global, marking another discipline of Tianjin University has entered the ranks of international high-level disciplines.

ESI is an important indicator commonly used today to evaluate the international academic level and influence of universities and research institutions, and is also globally recognized as an important reference for evaluating the development of university disciplines. The disciplines ranked in the top 1% of ESI are generally regarded as international high-level disciplines, and entering the top 1% of ESI reflects the academic influence of a research institution (including university and research institute). At present, 452 institutions in the global economics and business discipline have entered the top 1% of ESI, including 31 institutions in Chinese Mainland and 6 domestic Hong Kong universities have also been selected.

The College of Management and Economics covers 3 level 1 disciplines, namely Management Science and Engineering, Business Administration and Public Management in Management science, as well as Applied Economics, a level 1 discipline in Economics, and Systems Engineering, a level 2 discipline in Engineering. In the discipline construction, Management Science and Engineering discipline and Business Administration discipline have achieved new milestone breakthroughs.
