To promote international humanistic exchanges among youth in the new era, to tell well stories of Tianjin University (TJU), to give voice to China’s higher education, Tianjin University Publicity Department, School of Foreign Languages, and School of International Education start the competition “My Campus Story” and call for article and short video submissions.
Faculty members, students and alumni who have worked or studied at Tianjin University are encouraged to share their experiences of campus life in English. Our goal is to expose the vibrant and diverse landscape of Tianjin University, as well as the cultural exchange and mutual learning between Chinese and foreign youth, and to provide a more authentic, comprehensive, and multi-dimensional picture of China.
The deadline for submission is July 15, 2023.
1. What We Are Looking For
Content Requirements: Participants are encouraged to use various formats including photos, articles, and videos to narrate campus life and the beauty of Tianjin University with the theme of "My Campus Story".
You can conceive your works from the following aspects:
Campus life
Campus landmarks
Grow through studies
Unforgettable classes
Teachers and classmates
Campus activities
Competitions and research projects
Graduation season
Dorm life
Canteen and food
Experience and ideas about Belt and Road Initiative
Other thematic content
Submission period: From June 16, 2023 to July 15, 2023.
Target participants: Faculty members, students and alumni of Tianjin University
Language requirement: Language strictly in English is preferred.
Entry Requirements
Articles:
Individuals or groups (dormitories, classes, clubs/couples, families, etc.) are invited to share their stories andcherished memories of Tianjin University with articles and photos.
Length of Articles: 300-1000 English words.
Each article entry can include no more than 10 photos, 5MB for each, format in JPG or PNG.
Videos
Individuals or groups (dormitories, classes, clubs/couples, families, etc.) are invited to share precious videos of their stories and wonderful memories at TJU.
Format: The videos should be presented in MP4 or MOV format, the resolution shall not be lower than 1920*1080, the bit rate shall not be lower than 8 Mbps, and neither watermarks nor commercial advertisements are permitted.
Dimension: horizontal: 16:9, vertical: 9:16
Size: 1GB maximum, up to 4 minutes.
Caption: 200-500 English words to give a brief introduction.
2. How to submit
Please send your "My Campus Story" articles, photos or videos, along with an English description to E-mail: publicpress@tju.edu.cn.
Please include author’s names (according to identification documents/passports), nationality (according to identification documents/passports), college/school, major, phone number, email address, and title of the work in the email.
3. What You Can Get
The organizers will evaluate the submitted works and select first, second, and third prizes. The award-winners will receive special certificates honoring the participation and corresponding prizes.
First Prize (10 winners): 5 article entries, 5 video entries.
Second Prize (20 winners): 10 article entries, 10 video entries.
Third Prize (30 winners): 15 article entries, 15 video entries.
4. Further Statement
The works with copyright dispute is not acceptable, and the participants shall be the copyright owner or authorized to use the works.
Tianjin University owns the rights to interpret this activity. Some of the best works will have a chance to be featured on the Tianjin University English website and to be recommended to China’s national media platforms.
