8th Asia Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering Concluded

The 8th Asia Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering (ACPEE 2023) was held in Tianjin from April 14 to 16. The conference, with Professor Luan Wenpeng from the School of Electrical and Information Engineering of Tianjin University as the conference chair, brought together over 600 attendees.

ACPEE 2023 kicked off on April 15. The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Zhu Jiebei from TJU School of Electrical and Information Engineering. Professor Tan Chao, Dean of the School of Electrical and Information Engineering of Tianjin University, Professor Tek-Tjing Lie from Auckland University of Technology and Professor Luan Wenpeng, chair of the conference, delivered opening remarks.

Eight prestigious experts from home and abroad were invited to deliver keynote speeches at the conference.

Professor Ding Zhengtao from the University of Manchester delivered a report entitled "Distributed Control and Optimization for Smart Energy and Power Systems".

Dr. Zhang Yi, an academician of Canadian Academy of Engineering and Vice President and CTO of RTDS Technologies Inc., gave a report titled "Real Time Simulation Technology for Modern Power Systems".

Professor Hideo Ishii from Waseda University made a report titled “Challenges of energy policy and power system for carbon neutral in Japan”.

Dr. Chi Yongning from China Electric Power Research Institute spoke on "Interaction of highly penetrated Renewable Energy with Power Grids and technical challenges".

Dr. Jessica Bian, president of IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES), gave a report entitled “Resilience Value and Metrics”.

Professor Jia Hongjie from Tianjin University reported on “Energy Storage and Integrated Energy Systems in the New Power System”.

Professor Chong Kok-Keong from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, gave a talk on “Comprehensive method for analyzing the power conversion efficiency of various commercial photovoltaic modules based on local operational conditions”.

At last, professor Dong Chaoyang from Nanyang Technological University delivered a report titled “EV smart charging management and planning”.

Panel session and industrial forum that followed also witnessed brilliant insights. The sub-conference report was held on April 15 and 16.

At the closing ceremony, professor Zhu Miao from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, as the chair of next conference, delivered a speech.

ACPEE 2023 received more than 700 submissions from different countries including Canada, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Australia, Japan, Denmark, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Peru, Russia, the United States, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, India, Italy and China, and attracted over 600 attendees. Filled with creative discussion and strong academic atmosphere, the conference, featuring reports and in-depth dialogue on electricity and energy, provided an excellent academic platform for attendees and promoted exchanges and development of academia, research and industry.
