On April 28, the Institute of University Culture&School History of Tianjin University and Tianjin Wenjin Academy reached a cooperation intention at the symposium “Tianjin University and Modern China”. Both parties will build Cultural Education Bases for each other, join hands in cultivating young students’ capacity for cultural practice, and to make new contributions to the discovery of Tianjin’s historical and cultural heritage as well as to the presentation of Tianjin’s urban cultural image.

The “Tianjin University and Modern China” symposium originated from the “Tianjin University and Tianjin” symposium held annually by Tianjin University since 2016. With the Institute of University Culture and School History of TJU as the backbone, the conference brought together Tianjin experts and scholars in literature and history to focus on the theme of research and explore the connection between the university and the city. And the research has produced fruitful results over the years. “Exploring to clarify the bloodline connection between the university and the city and the country, is to show the course of ‘Rejuvenate Education and Strengthen our country’ which is constantly enriched and developed with the progress of the times and formed with the quality of the times in the articulation and integration of national tradition and the spirit of the times”, Professor Wang Jie, director of the Institute of Culture&University History of TJU, said, “It embodies the pursuit and progress of the university spirit to absorb the essence of the spirit of the times in each historical stage and period, and form a new connotation in the new era.”

The opening of the research on the theme research of "Tianjin University and Modern China" as well as the collaboration with the Wenjin Academy is an important exploration for the Institute of Culture&University History of TJU in order to continue to play the role of cultural education, to promote the university’s education in the humanities and to better undertake the task of cultural inheritance and innovation, and also build a new form of research and dissemination of university culture and urban culture. Han Qinghua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of TJU, said, "Tianjin University will continue to activate the vitality of the excellent Chinese traditional culture with the spirit of the university and the spirit of the times, so that the Chinese university spirit can forge a colorful chapter in the new era.
