In the recently concluded finals of the 13th "Challenge Cup" National College Student Business Plan Competition, the "Feynman Power" team under the guidance of Teacher Hu Shi of the School of Science won the Gold Award in the group of "Eco-friendly and Sustainable Development".

Six students in the team are all postgraduate students in the School of Science. Advisor Zheng Zhe, an alumnus of the School of Science, is now working in the Innovation and Business Startup Department of the Tianjin University Youth League Committee.

Carbon neutrality is increasingly important in the world, with Europe and the US already levying carbon taxes on carbon emitting companies, and China also including the goal of "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality" in its energy technology development roadmap. Against this background, this technology of electrocatalytic carbon dioxide reduction has a huge market both at home and abroad. At the same time, various products from CO2 reduction (e.g. CO, formic acid, ethylene, etc.) have a high economic value as bulk chemicals. Working on CO2 reduction for many years, Feynman Power's team has been the first company in China to have both industrial grade catalyst preparation and electrolytic cell core component technology for CO2 reduction.

Besides, this team has completed the first exploration of CO2 reduction commercialization model, selling catalysts and membrane electrodes, the core components of CO2 reduction devices, to many downstream companies in China and abroad. These efforts are committed to breaking the upstream and downstream technical barriers and establishing an upstream and downstream ecosystem for electrocatalytic CO2 reduction in China. Under the transformation and upgrading of foreign trade, Feynman Power's technology will also reduce China's dependence on energy imports and the impact of trade barriers caused by future carbon taxes. The use of CO2 allows green power to replace traditional fossil fuels which will be the focus of effective resources utilization in the chemical industry and change the mix of clean energy by technology.

In the process of talent cultivation, the School of Science attaches importance to the improvement of students' innovation and entrepreneurship, implements the "Undergraduate Research Ability Enhancement Plan", gives the whole stall full play, and encourages students to explore their research interests. In the future, the School of Science will continue to push forward to promote the overall growth of students and nurture talents with the spirit of scientists in basic disciplines.
