The 6th Forum on Innovation and Entrepreneurship of Tianjin University Alumniwas held in Tianjin on February 11. The forum revolves around the theme of "make a better TJU-NKU Higher Education Science and Technology Park by integrating science and education and breeding innovation", providing an opportunity for brainstorming and discussing the blueprint for TJU-NKU Higher Education Science and Technology Park (Science and Technology Park).
The construction of the Science and Technology Park will start in 2023. The 6th Forum on Innovation and Entrepreneurship of Tianjin University Alumni sounds a clarion call, gathering prominent scientists, investors and entrepreneurs together. Exchanging personal understanding of entrepreneurship, sharing the latest innovation achievements, and brainstorming ideas for the development of the Science and Technology Park, they make joint efforts to promote science and education integration, industry and education integration, and to inject new impetus into innovation and entrepreneurship.
The forum includes one theme forum, seven roundtable forums and one night talk. Both offline and online forums are broadcast live, inviting nearly 300 business leaders and scholars and attracting more than 20,000 people.
Zhu Peng, vice mayor of Tianjin, extended congratulations on the successful opening of the forum. He said that efforts will be made to be in line with the national first-class standards and sound policy will be established to create a service-oriented, market-based, professionalized and internationalized business environment, enabling all innovators and entrepreneurs to grow and thrive here. As the oldest university in modern history of China, Tianjin University (TJU) has made outstanding contributions to the high-quality development of economy and society in the years before. And now it continues to play an exemplary role, taking the initiative to participate in the construction of the Science and Technology Park.
Yang Xianjin, Party Secretary of Tianjin University, held that the Science and Technology Park is of great significance to bond education, science and talents together. Tianjin University actively participates in making development strategy for the Science and Technology Park and putting it into practice. It devotes to integrating various innovation elements, including technology, talent, capital, information, to cultivate more innovative talent and provide a first-class platform and environment for them.
Jin Donghan, President of Tianjin University, proposed that the key to the success of the Science and Technology Park lies in the cooperation between government, universities and industry. Only if they actively participate, can the interactionbetween universities, science parks and society be realized. The Science and Technology Park is expected to be conducive to the local economic development with vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem, matrix of venture capital funds at different stages, and innovation of its management and service mechanism.
Liu Yi, President of the Tianjin Alumni Association of Tianjin University, also a successful entrepreneur and investor, said that attracting more ambitious graduates to stay in Tianjin is essential for this city to achieve high-quality development in the future. Tianjin Alumni Association will do its bit for the construction of the Science and Technology Park, exploring more efficient ways to share resources and leveraging complementarity among schools, enterprises, industries and regions. In the coming year, it will strive to achieve in-depth interaction between 100 high-tech companies and 100 scientists in the Park, attract 100 talents to participate, and set up a fund group of over 1 billion yuan. In the next five years, 500 science and technology start-ups will be built and over 10,000 outstanding graduates will work here; and in 10 years, 10 unicorns will be nurtured.
Other Distinguished guests and leaders from government and universities including Tianjin Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, Tianjin University of Science and Technology, and Tianjin Chengjian University put forward their opinions on how to make the Science and Technology Park a source of innovation and how to create a multi-winecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship through roundtable dialogues and other means, contributing wisdom to the development of the Science and Technology Park.
Founded in 2017, the Forum on Innovation and Entrepreneurship of Tianjin University Alumni has become an indispensable part of ecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship. With the goal of "TJU alumni build TJU strength, TJU funds accelerate TJU achievements", it is successful in helping alumni achieve their entrepreneurship dreams. TJU ecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship consists of 9 parts, including lectures, forums, courses, competitions, intense trainings, clubs, fund, awards and centers. It has driven local development, enhanced collaboration among different regions and optimized the allocation of innovation resources these years.
