On December 30, the closing ceremony of the 2022 "Chinese Bridge" online winter camp of Tianjin University, sponsored by the Language Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Education was successfully held. More than 140 teachers and students from Tianjin University’s School of International Education and from the King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), Tailand, attended the ceremony.
The winter camp was widely praised and commended by the Thai students. At the closing ceremony, a Thai student representative, Xia Qingxi, said that she was very delighted to know TJU’s kind and responsible teachers and share and exchange learning experience with Chinese students, She hoped to have more such opportunities in the future. Sang Runji, another representative, mentioned that thanks to this winter camp, he not only enhanced his Chinese proficiency, but also deepened his understanding of Chinese science and technology, history as well as humanities. He was thus looking forward to studying in China someday.
Dr. Wen Yali, Dean of KMITL’s School of Liberal Arts expressed her gratitude to the host of this winter camp, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) under China’s Ministry of Education (MOE), and the organizer, TJU. She stated that this course gave their students access to the wisdom of science in ancient China, and to the prosperity of various Chinese industries driven by modern technologies. "Our students benefited a lot from the carefully arranged course schedule and fine classes given by expertise teachers,” said Dr. Wen. She encouraged students to further their study in the future and try to apply what they have learned to fields in need.
“The Thai students’ enthusiasm and active participation in the classroom activities had left a deep impression on us teachers.” said Li Jing, representative of TJU teachers. “In the coming year, I encourage all camp members to practice Chinese more frequently and fluently in their daily life, and learn more about China. I hope we could get together at TJU someday.”
In his closing speech, Li Qiang, Dean of TJU’s School of International Education, expressed his warm congratulations to the success conclusion of the winter camp and his sincere gratitude to CLEC and KMITL. He pointed out that through the cloud platform, all participants in Thailand were able to learn about Chinese and the advanced technology in China despite geographical limitations. Immersing themselves in the intense but interesting courses, Thai students acquired knowledge, inspirations and their own understanding within just twelve days. “Let’s hope that, with the knowledge you learned at the camp, you could become the bridges between China and Thailand, contributing to cultural exchange and mutual appreciation between the two countries,” said Li.
“Chinese Bridge” activities serve as platforms where the world gets to know about the real China and appreciate its beauty. This twelve-day “Chinese Bridge” Winter Camp, delivering both professional and practical courses, promoted Chinese language, culture as well as advanced science and technology.
