2022 Seminar on Teaching Organic Chemistry in Higher Universities Held

On Nov.19, 2022, Seminar on Teaching Organic Chemistry in Higher Universities was held, with the aim of implementing the guiding philosophy of the 2022 National Education Work Conference, promoting the development of organic chemistry curriculum and textbooks in higher universities, exchanging views on the integration of course teaching and information technology, and further enhancing these textbooks’ role in talent cultivation.

Organized by Higher Education Press and co-organized by Tianjin University, the conference was conducted in an online and offline manner, with nearly 300 participants from many universities across China.

The opening ceremony of the conference was hosted by Professor Liu Changlong, Party Secretary of the School of Science of Tianjin University.

Prof. Gong Jinlong, Vice President of Tianjin University, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Reviewing the development of chemistry textbook and relevant courses, he put forward hopes and requirements in these areas mentioned. 

Chen Qilin, Deputy Director of the Science Division of Higher Education Press, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. He summarized experience from various perspectives, including textbook development, curriculum improvement and the integration between, and raised new hopes and prospects, wishing the conference a great success.

After the opening ceremony, eight experts in organic chemistry teaching and textbooks delivered reports on the improvement of chemistry textbooks, the development of virtual teaching and research laboratories, experimental teaching, courses for ideological, political education, teacher ethics and other aspects, and exchanged their views on the education and teaching of organic chemistry.

The conference greatly promoted the development of organic chemistry textbook, curriculum and the integration between the two and therefore achieved a great success.
