Tianjin is one of the four municipalities directly under the central government of China. It is a national central city and the largest port city in North China. 1. Comprehensive disciplines and outstanding advantages in engineering
Over the years, Tianjin University has adhered to the development concept of “strengthening Engineering, consolidating Science, developing Humanities, and revitalizing Medicine”, and by incorporating its advantages in engineering and science into other disciplines. Economics, management, literature, law, medicine, education, art, philosophy, and other disciplines are all developed within a coordinated, comprehensive discipline layout. To date, there are currently 74 undergraduate programs, 43 master’s programs of level-1 disciplines, 31 doctoral programs of level-1 disciplines, and 23 post-doctoral research stations. In the fourth round of national disciplinary evaluations, Tianjin University had a total of 25 level-1 disciplines participating in the assessment, and the number of A-level disciplines has reached 14, ranking the third in national high-quality discipline rate. Thirteen subject areas have entered the top one percent of the ESI, and three of them have entered the top one thousandth of the ESI. Riding on the trend of future development of engineering science and technology, Tianjin University has accurately predicted the requirements for future engineering talents and has worked to cultivate a batch of engineers with strong core capabilities, actively playing its role in the Emerging Engineering Education Transformation program.

1. What requirements do I need to meet to apply to Tianjin University?
(1) Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport.
(2) Age & Education:
① For Undergraduate Programs, the applicant must hold a high school diploma and be under the age of 25. Applicants who are still under the age of 18 must submit the original guardian certificate issued by the Tianjin District Notary Office, and the Guardian must be a permanent resident of Tianjin.
② For Master Programs, applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35.
③ For Doctoral Programs, applicants must hold a Master’s degree and be under the age of 40.
④ Applicants to Chinese-taught programs must submit HSK certificates with a minimum requirement of HSK5 (Score 180 or above).
Applicants to English-taught programs must submit an English proficiency certificate (English native speakers are exempted). TOEFL: no less than 80, IELTS: no less than 6.0, Duolingo: no less than 100.
2. When is the application period?
From October to June.
3. What materials do I need to submit? Do I need to mail hard copies?
You don’t need to mail hard copies. Application materials include the following:
(1) A scan of your diploma (A scan of a pre-graduation certificate is required if the applicant has not yet gained a certificate)
(2) A copy of your academic transcripts
(3) A photocopy of passport within the validity period
(4) Proof of Chinese or English proficiency
(5) Personal statement or study plan
(6) Study experience resume
(7) A photocopy of “Foreigner Physical Examination Form”
(8) A scan of “Certificate of Non-Criminal Records”
(9) Other attachments
(Applicants for architectural majors are requested to submit five sketches of the applicants’ own works. Certificate of Bank saving or Income Certificate of Financial Guarantor.)
4. What is the application process?
(1) Open an account on our application system (tju.at0086.cn/student), fill in all the information, and upload required documents.
(2) Preliminary review and academic evaluation.
(3) Interview invitation.
(4) Admission and scholarship result release.
