Tianjin University Star

In the early summer of 2017, in order to commemorate the 40th anniversary of enrollment, some alumni of Tianjin University, Grade 77 and 78, spontaneously established the "Tianjin University Aerospace Engineering Club" and began their journey of chasing stars. With the support of the National Astronomical Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, it was approved by the International Astronomical Union on July 11, 2018, and was able to officially name asteroid 8917 "Tianjin University Star". On October 2, the "Tianjin University Star" was officially licensed by the National Astronomical Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. To commemorate the naming of the "Tianjin University Star", Cui Kai, a 1977 alumnus of architecture, designed this unique and bright memorial sculpture. In the winter of 2021, stars shine in the snow.
