Peiyang Power Team Scoops First Prize in FSC

Tianjin University’s Peiyang Power Team won the National First Prize in the Formula Student Combustion China and gained the NIO Best Rookie Award in the Formula Student Electric China at the 13thFormula Student China (FSC) held from September 16 to 21, 2022 in Hefei, Anhui Province.

Haoyue XIII is the 13thfuel formula car for the Formula Student Combustion China independently designed and built by TJU students. With the support of a series of innovative entrepreneurial training plan programs, the team has made creative designs in air intake system, lubrication methods, aerodynamics and suspension system. It also performed well in both static programs including reports on design, cost, business and among others, and dynamic programs such as straight-line acceleration, figure 8 loop, high speed obstacle avoidance as well as endurance and efficiency tests, setting a new record in its history.

Haoyue EV1 is TJU’s first car for the Formula Student Electric China. With the combined support of TJU’s Smart Manufacturing Center and the School of Mechanical Engineering, the team has completed the design and manufacturing of the electric-drive system and the whole car from scratch. It ranked first among the teams that took part in the racing and won the NIO Best Rookie Award.

As one of the founding teams of the FSC series, Peiyang Power Team has been a permanent participant of FSC since its first competition. Sponsored by companies such as Weichai Power, Dongfeng Nissan, CFMOTO Power and VitescoTechnologies, the team has made steady strides and won numerous awards in recent years including the first and second national prizes.

FSC, guided by China Association for Science and Technology and hosted by the Society of Automotive Engineers of China, marks China’s highest level of car racing for university students. The competition attracted over 100 teams from Jilin University, Tongji University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Weihai Campus of Harbin Institute of Technology, Hunan University, Tsinghua University and other universities strong in vehicle engineering.
