In August, Yuan Shiqi, a new undergraduate student at Tianjin University, stepped into her father's alma mater and began her long-desired college life.

In 1991, Yuan Shiqi's father, Yuan Mengwen, attended Tianjin University majoring in environmental engineering. After graduation, he became an excellent researcher and professional chief engineer. Yuan Shiqi has been listening to her father's stories about the rich and colorful college life since she was a child, which aroused her interests. According to her father, Tianjin University keeps a low profile but is actually well established and deep-rooted. For her father, the motto of "seeking truth from facts" is engraved in his blood, and she was taught to be practical, honest and trustworthy. Therefore, the university motto "seeking truth from facts" have always been with her and inspires her to become the excellent person as she is now. Eleven years ago, Yuan Shiqi went to Tianjin University with her father to participate in the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the founding of the School of Environmental Science and Engineering, and was impressed by the beauty of the Youth Lake. The experience of visiting Tianjin University ten years ago and her father's education also implanted a small seed in her mind: to attend Tianjin University as her father did. Now she follows her father's footsteps and forges ahead at the same Tianjin University.

Yuan Shiqi said: "Thirty years ago, my father attended Tianjin University with aspirations and hopes. Thirty years later, I will embark on the same starting point with him and start my four years of college life with similar feelings."

Yuan Shiqi graduated from Beijing No. 5 High School. She won many awards in mathematics and science competitions at the municipal level during her high school years. She has a keen interest in science and technology. Measurement and control technology and instrumentation of the School of Precision Instrument and Optoelectronics Engineering with focus on the integration of disciplines interests her most. After the college entrance examination, she chose this school as her first choice without hesitation: her dream ten years ago became a reality!

On the move-in day, Yuan Shiqi felt the warmth of home of Tianjin University after receiving help from her seniors. For her future college life, she hopes that she could make steady academic progress and at the same time, develop her interest through joining student societies and organizations, where she can experience the Tianjin lifestyle with like-minded friends.
