Recently, the final result of the national engineering education accreditation of 2021 has been released by China Engineering Education Accreditation Association (CEEAA). Four programs of Tianjin University (TJU) - Functional Materials, Electrical Engineering and Automation, Civil Engineering, and Environmental Engineering have been approved and included in the list of CEEAA.
Engineering education accreditation is an internationally accepted system to ensure the quality of engineering education, which plays a pivotal role in promoting universities to improve the quality of talent cultivation. In 2016, China officially became a full member of Washington Accord. Ever since then, the engineering degrees accredited by CEEAA have been recognized within Washington Accord. In 2018, the Evaluation Center of the Ministry of Education, the Accreditation Secretariat of CEEAA and TJU jointly established the International Affairs Office in accordance with the Washington Accord. Since then, a stable working mechanism has been made and the in-depth international engineering education research, exchange and cooperation have been proactively carried out.
TJU attaches great importance to the work of engineering education accreditation and takes a series of measures: formulating the working plan of accreditation, funding guarantee system, carrying out special training and lectures on accreditation, organizing programs to carry out internal self-assessment, inviting experts to guide the degree assessment and construction, so as to systematically promote the implementation of major accreditation. Up to now, there have been 22 programs approved the professional accreditation (assessment), among which 18 programs have passed the professional accreditation of engineering education and 4 programs have passed the professional assessment of the Ministry of Housing and Construction.
Based on these achievements, TJU will continue to promote programs accreditation, gradually establishing a comprehensive “international - national - university" three-tier accreditation system. All these efforts will effectively promote the overall improvement of the program construction and talent training quality of TJU.
